The Magical Sleight of Mouth Method

HOW I MADE THIS CLIENT SAVE HIS LIFE

It was Tuesday afternoon.

I thought I had seen it all but apparently, no. Not with this one.

This client was telling me GOD had talked to him. And told him to commit suicide...

At first, I thought it was a bad joke.

But no. He was drop dead serious.

I would only learn it later, but this was my very first encounter with an actual case of paranoid schizophrenia.

You see, some people just talk to themselves or argue with their own internal dialogue.

But this patient was different. This was an actual case of dissociative personality.

Most people make the mistake of trying to “explain” or “teach” the person why they shouldn’t do it.

But trying to argue with facts and logic is the slowest and least effective method in coaching and therapy.

It will just make your client think you don’t understand them.

And there is a much more powerful method to make people change easily.

The power of Sleight of Mouth opened up a whole new world for me.

Instead of trying to prove this guy something,

Or trying to argue with his religious beliefs...

I only questioned politely his interpretation of God’s words.

Milton Erickson said: If you want to hypnotize people covertly, you need to accept and use their inner map of the world.

I asked a set of different questions:

- When did you start hearing God talking to you?

- Did God give any details, strategies, or specific tools to kill yourself?

- Has it ever happened God says something that you think is not really that smart?

- Etc.

Slowly but surely, I started to notice the Key that would save his life.

Instead of trying to attack his beliefs, which would have made his defenses raise up,

I just used the Magic of Sleight of Mouth

I asked: "So, If God’s will should never be questioned, how did the people who wrote the Bible could get so much detailed information?"

He started to slow down and looked confused...

-Yes, after all, they had to get accurate descriptions to be able to write such a wealth of information in the Bible, and the description you’re giving me of what God said is very partial and incomplete. So, how do you know you have understood everything God had to tell you?

Basically, I slowly brought his mind on the idea that “death” here only meant the “death of a phase of his life”, instead of “physiological death”.

I didn’t try to force this belief onto his mind, I only explored what solution was available into his inner world.

I just helped him unlocking his natural potential for change.
